Call-out fee, $80–$180
What most Sydney plumbers charge to attend. Ask for it up front, anyone who will not name it on the phone is telling you something.
A burst pipe at 2am does not wait for business hours, and neither do we. One call reaches a licensed plumber, not an answering service, and a crew is dispatched to Annangrove with the gear to actually stop the problem, not just look at it.
The honest test: is water, waste or gas going somewhere it should not, and getting worse while you watch? A burst pipe, sewage backing up into the shower, a hot water tank dumping its load through the ceiling, or any smell of gas, those are emergencies, and waiting until morning multiplies the damage bill. Your first move for a burst pipe is the water meter: turn the stop valve clockwise and the flooding stops while we drive.
Then there is the category people apologise for calling about, the toilet that will not flush in a one-bathroom house, the blocked drain the night before an inspection, no hot water with a newborn at home. Call anyway. We run genuine 24/7 coverage across Annangrove, Kenthurst, Box Hill, Dural and the wider Hills District, and an after-hours call gets a plumber, not a promise of one tomorrow.
Properties on septic or an on-site treatment system have a failure mode town sewer does not: the problem can be the system itself rather than the pipe to it, and the warning signs are wet ground and smell rather than a backed-up fixture.
With no town sewer across much of Annangrove, blocked absorption trenches, full tanks and struggling aerated systems are a common cause of backups on acreage.
If the ground over the trench is soggy in dry weather, stop putting water into the system and call. Continuing to load a failed field turns a pump-out into an excavation, and that is the difference between a bad evening and a bad month.
Annangrove sits out in Sydney’s semi-rural Hills District (postcode 2156), an acreage suburb of large rural-residential blocks, horse properties and bushland bordering Kenthurst, Box Hill, Rouse Hill and Glenhaven. Many homes here run on septic or on-site wastewater and tank water, with long private drain lines crossing big blocks, and we know this ground well.
On sloping ground the problem is rarely where the symptom is. Water leaves a failure at the highest point and surfaces at the lowest, which can be several properties away and well downhill of anything you would think to look at.
It is also why a neighbour's overflowing gully is sometimes your blocked line, and occasionally the reverse. We work uphill from the symptom rather than digging where the water appears.
Most homes around Annangrove have an overflow gully outside, a low grate, often near the back step, that nobody thinks about until it matters. It is deliberately set below the lowest fixture indoors so that when the line blocks, it spills into the garden instead of through your floor.
Heavy rain across Annangrove’s paddocks and driveways overwhelms pits and ag lines, sending runoff surging until stormwater drains choke and back up.
So a gully running in heavy rain is not a fault. It is the system doing its job and telling you the line downstream of it has stopped taking water. That is the moment to call, not after it reaches the hallway.
We would rather be straight about drive times than optimistic. Properties on the outskirts of Annangrove and out through Kenthurst, Box Hill, Dural are further from the depot than the built-up streets, and at 3am the difference is real.
On large blocks the run from the house to the tank, trench or street can be tens of metres, so grades flatten, silt settles and a camera is needed to find the trouble spot.
What does not change is what happens on the phone: the isolation advice, working out whether it is safe to wait until first light, and an arrival window we will actually meet rather than one that sounds better.
Steep driveways, stairs down to the door, and no clear place to park all cost minutes in daylight and more after dark.
It helps enormously if someone can meet the crew at the street with a light on. And if your property has a hard access point, a locked side gate, a shared drive, a set of steps that is the only way in: tell us on the phone rather than when we arrive. It changes what comes off the van and how.

Against roughly $120–$160 in business hours. Nights, weekends and public holidays sit at the top of the range.
Call-out, the first stretch of labour and minor parts, for the common jobs: an isolated burst, a blocked toilet, a failed valve.
Slab leaks, gas line faults and anything needing walls opened at 2am climb quickly. You will know the number before we start, not after.
If it can genuinely hold, isolated, contained, water off: we will say so on the phone and book you for daylight rates instead.
The figure is agreed with you before the work happens, at any hour, no exceptions. Figures here are indicative of the 2026 Sydney market rather than a quote from us, you get your own number as a fixed price before any work starts.
Call and describe it. If it can hold, we will tell you, and book you at daytime rates. If it cannot, you will be glad you rang tonight.
The phone is the fast lane, any hour. After-dark form enquiries ring the on-call plumber directly, nothing waits for office hours.
Leave your details and our local Annangrove team will call you back fast.
